MailEnable Connector for Microsoft Outlook Release Notes ------------- This client installation installs a MAPI Service Provider for Microsoft Outlook (2003 and later). The service provider provides rich Outlook Collaboration with MailEnable Enterprise Premium servers. Microsoft Outlook Configuration ------------------------------- Once the client software has been installed, an Outlook profile will need to be either created or updated to allow you to access the MailEnable server. The following instructions are available for creating a new Outlook Profile for connecting to the MailEnable Enterprise Premium server. 1. Either from within Outlook or from the Windows control panel, launch the wizard for creating a new profile. 2. In the Add New E-Mail Account window, check the box to "manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click Next. 3. A list of e-mail services should be listed containing "Internet E-mail", "Microsoft Exchange" and "Other". You should select the "Other" option, and from the list, select the "MailEnable Server" list item. 4. You can now configure the settings for connecting and accessing the MailEnable Server. These follow below: 4.1 In the server address, specify the host name or IP address of the server running MailEnable. 4.2 For the account name, you should supply your MailEnable login in the form of Mailbox@Postoffice. 4.3 Enter the corresponding password for the above login 4.4 Enter your friendly name - typically first name followed by surname 4.5 Email address: Enter the primary email address for the login you have specified 4.6 For the account description, you can enter a name that will allow you to idenitfy the mailbox in Outlook - eg: your mailbox name 4.7 An advanced check box is available to allow you to configure some additional settings. In particular, the "Mailbox:" field on the Mailbox tab allows you to optionally specify another users mailbox to open (so you may access the resources of their mailbox while logged in with your own credentials). Under normal configuration, you could leave this field blank or the mailbox name associated with your own login. The other settings are largely self explanatory. Having configured the above, you can click OK and Outlook will configure the profile for access and allow you to login. 11th January, 2012: 1.42 Update ------------------------------- IMP: Now viewing and editing items in the address book uses the full Outlook appearance like Contacts FIX: Sending an email to a group in shared contact folder you are connected to would not work 15th December, 2011: 1.41 Update -------------------------------- FIX: Sending an email to a group that was in someone elses shared contact folder was not working FIX: Some quoted printable MIME encoded headers used for contact names with extended characters may not display correctly FIX: Shutting down Outlook may cause flag loss or duplicate message FIX: Was not correctly saving appointments to server for timezones that indicated just one daylight savings change 30th October, 2011: 1.40 Update ------------------------------- IMP: Significant speed and usability improvements (synchronization no longer presents modal wait dialogs) IMP: Server change notifications are now only processed for folders that are actively being used in the client 19th August, 2011: 1.39 Update ------------------------------ FIX: Server side messages migrated from other mail servers (with short file names) would display with blank content FIX: Meeting requests would not be displayed as requests until fully downloaded from the server 21st July, 2011: 1.38 Update ---------------------------- FIX: Suggested Contacts folder is not replicated to server (preventing custom folder error when creating new profile) FIX: Client will validate folder changes when server connection has been interrupted. 20th April, 2011: 1.37 Internal Beta Release -------------------------------------------- INF: Internal Release for testing and beta trial 3rd March, 2011: 1.36 Update ---------------------------- FIX: Was not falling back to alternate method of sending emails to Sent Items folder for server versions before 5.05 22nd February, 2011: 1.35 Update -------------------------------- FIX: Transport(Outbox) prevents invalid addressed messages from blocking the sending of valid messages IMP: Improved connection pooling (placing less load on the server) 24th January, 2011: 1.34 Update ------------------------------- FIX: Client will now synchronize Sent Items folder with items sent via webmail (or items within Sent Items folder of server). 16th December, 2010: 1.33 Update -------------------------------- FIX: Client may freeze while processing large numbers of changes from server notifications FIX: Attendees may not appear in appointments when synchronized from CalDAV or SyncML clients 11th November, 2010: 1.32 Update -------------------------------- FIX: Contacts created in webmail may not fully populate all e-mail fields when updated in MAPI client.
